I’ve finally posted the short film I created for the St. Edward’s University senior studio art exhibition in 2009! Here is the abstract…
As I child raised a Christian, I constantly pondered the reality of the Biblical story of creation. Wishing to explore my childhood from an artistic perspective, I revisited the church I grew up in and asked a group of young children to draw their own interpretations of the creation story. Deeply inspired, I used their drawings as the foundation for seven paintings, representing each day of creation. I also made a short film documenting my painting process (I attempted to complete each oil painting in one day) and incorporated interviews of professors I had throughout my undergraduate college experience at St. Edward’s University asking them their thoughts on creation. The film, Seven Days of Creation, juxtaposes academic perspectives of the creation story and childlike imagination to illuminate the ultimate question, “How did we get here?”
